Training

Gay Project offers a range of training programmes for a variety of workplaces and community groups on LGBTI+ awareness and inclusion and are available year round to facilitate trainings.

Who is it for?

“Rainbow Ready” is a certified inclusivity training programme designed for community organisations, non-profits, and educational institutions. This training equips staff, educators, and leaders to create and maintain inclusive, respectful, and safe spaces for LGBTI+ individuals. Through this programme, participants will gain practical tools and knowledge to foster a culture of inclusion and provide a positive experience for all community members.

Upon completion, organisations will receive the prestigious Rainbow Ready Inclusion Rating, a certification symbolising their commitment to LGBTI+ inclusivity. In addition, organisations will appoint an Internal Reporting Officer who will be responsible for managing LGBTI+ grievances, tracking the organisation’s/institution’s progress, and overseeing simple annual reviews to ensure the continuous application of inclusive practices.

How long does it take and what are the costs?

Training takes 2 hours and Gay Project are available year round to facilitate trainings. This training is currently funded through 2026 to be available free of charge to community organisations, non-profits, and educational institutions. To receive certification we seek to ensure at minimum 80% of your organisation’s staff complete the programme. This can be achieved with additional training sessions to accommodate conflicting staff schedules where needed.

Who is it for?

“OUT, out!” is an innovative training programme designed to create a more inclusive and safe night-time economy by providing bar staff, security, and late-night venue workers with the tools and knowledge to foster welcoming spaces for LGBTI+ patrons. Our training is tailored to create confident, informed, and proactive allies who can nurture safe inclusive environments for LGBTI+ individuals, prevent harassment, and ensure the safety of all patrons and staff.

Why is it important?

Nightclubs, bars and other late night venues often serve as vital community spaces for LGBTI+ individuals to express themselves and connect with others. The LGBTI+ community can often fear that the space they are in might not be inclusive of their identities. To actively supporting those members of the LGBTI+ community and your workplace it is important to be proactive about ensuring your team receives the appropriate training around awareness, communication, respect, policy implication and more.

How long does it take and what are the costs?

Training takes 2 hours and Gay Project are available year round to facilitate trainings. This training is free of cost throughout 2026.

“HSE Allies in the Workplace” is an interactive, dynamic LGBTI+ allyship training and certification programme designed to equip HSE healthcare professionals with the tools and knowledge necessary to champion LGBTI+ inclusion. Our training is tailored to create confident, informed, and proactive allies who can provide inclusive care and environments for LGBTI+ individuals accessing healthcare and for their LGBTI+ coworkers.

Why is it important?

With increasingly diverse communities and workplaces, it’s essential to receive appropriate training when working with and supporting service users, patients, and employees of different backgrounds. The LGBTI+ community faces some of the toughest barriers in accessing healthcare services where they can often fear that the space they are in might not be inclusive of their identities. To succeed in supporting those members of LGBTI+ community in your workplace it is important to be proactive about ensuring you and your team receives the appropriate training, on awareness, communication, respect, policy implication and more.

How long does it take and what are the costs?

Training takes 2 hours and Gay Project are available year round to facilitate trainings. This training is free of cost throughout 2026.

What do you receive?

Participating individuals receive a certificate of participation, a LGBTI+ ally pin and lanyard, and training handbook.

Participating workplaces receive a certificate to show their medical centre/service has completed the training, HSE LGBTI+ Ally stickers, listing on Gay Projects inclusive service provider database.

Who is it for?

“Work with Pride” is an inclusivity training programme designed for private businesses and their staff to champion LGBTI+ inclusion. The training informs companies on how to move from performative support to active and meaningful allyship. Staff will be equipped with the knowledge to create and maintain inclusive, respectful, and safe spaces for LGBTI+ individuals and foster a culture of inclusivity.

Who is it for?

“Awareness to Allyship” is an interactive LGBTI+ allyship training for members of the public. This accessible training offers an opportunity to learn the A-Z on all things LGBT and how to be an active ally in your community.

Why is it important?

Topics covered include LGBTI+ terminology, the importance of allyship and allyship practices, offers advice on how to discuss LGBTI+ topics with friends and family and how to challenge negativity and misinformation.

Utilising visual tools and exercises, an understanding of the many challenges faced by LGBTI+ individuals is developed as well as best practices in challenging discriminatory language and practices. This programme encourages continued engagement with LGBTI+ education and self-development to help to create safe, more inclusive spaces in all communities.

Training takes 2 hours and will be taking place at set dates throughout the year. This training is currently funded through 2026 to be available free of charge to members of the public.
