GBT+ Domestic Abuse & Coercive Control

Reachout
GBT+ (gay and bisexual and men who have sex with men, including non-binary and trans men), like any other group, may experience abuse and control in their intimate relationships. However, they may not always recognise what is happening as abuse, or view existing domestic violence services as appropriate to their needs.  The reachOUT project is a collaboration between the OSSCork Domestic Violence Information Resource Centre and Gay Project. The reachOUT project set out to assess the prevalence of intimate partner abuse between gay and bisexual and men who have sex with men in Cork and develop referral pathways between the two organisations. A suite of resources has been developed for the Gay community and for professionals who might come into contact with GBT+ men experiencing abuse in their relationships.

Take a look at the following to find out more about intimate partner abuse in the Gay community and about what help is available.

The reachOUT report and summary report are now available and can be accessed on the OSS website

If you are a professional, please go to osscork.com/resources to find three training modules: 1. Introduction; 2. Understanding; and 3. Recognise, respond and refer, aimed at professionals who might come into contact with GBT+ men experiencing abuse in their relationships.
